Undergraduate English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement

Are you going to be a teacher?

Consider the English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement, a valuable addition for teachers in any field.

Why get the Undergraduate ESOL Endorsement?
  1. You want an advantage in the job market when applying for instructional positions.
  2. You plan to be a teacher and want the knowledge and skills necessary to best meet the needs of the many multilingual students in your future classroom.
  3. You want the option to teach ESOL, as Georgia’s immigrant population has been one of the fastest growing in the nation with a steady increase of multilingual learners from around the world, particularly Latin America, East Asia, and South Asia.

The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement is a fully online, three-course sequence available in all teaching fields. The endorsement curriculum prepares students (future teachers) to respond to the growing number of multilingual learners in grades P-12. The ESOL Endorsement is a great asset to obtain before the professional job search. The ESOL Endorsement may be completed independently and can be integrated into a program as electives for those who have or will hold a teaching credential in any subject field, a speech and language pathology professional certificate, or a school counseling credential.

The three ESOL endorsement courses are offered online on a regular basis (see below).

This table shows the list of ESOL courses with their course number, name, hours, and semester availability.

A student may take one or two courses as undergraduate electives and then finish the remaining course(s) within 5 years and still get the ESOL Endorsement from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.

Students wanting to take the endorsement classes, but not in an education field, may opt to pursue the 6-course TESOL Certificate. This online certificate prepares majors from any discipline to pursue teaching opportunities with English Language Learners (ELLs) in corporate settings and private language schools in the United States and internationally.
