Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø WiFi Networks

Wired connections are available upon request in academic, administration buildings, and residence halls. Residence Hall requests must meet specific requirements in order to be activated.

Academic and administration ports are for official business and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-owned devices only.

If you need a port activated in any of these areas, please contact the Solution Center at solutions.valdosta.edu or 229-245-4357.

If available, it is always recommended that a user connects to a secure and encrypted wireless network. Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø offers three encryption wireless networks, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-WiFi, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-LegacyWiFi, and eduRoam 

REMINDER: Be cautious of data that you transmit over unsecured wireless networks. We do not recommend making purchases, completing banking transactions, or similar activities that would transmit financial information or private identification numbers (like Social Security Numbers) over an unsecured/unencrypted wireless network.

  • Personal computers should support the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless connection.   

  • We recommend that your workstation supports 5Ghz (802.11a/an/ac/ax).

No. Wireless routers are not supported. We recommend that you do not bring these to campus. Personal wireless routers interfere with our campus wireless network, which can impact the performance of wireless services for the campus community. In addition, these devices introduce security risks to the university and will be removed if found.

Guest accounts are available Monday thru Sunday, 7AM - 11:59PM (EST); 10-hours session duration. If a guest is visiting campus for official business and an account is needed for more than the default time, please contact the Information Technology (IT) Helpdesk in Odum Library or call the Solution Center at (229) 245-4357 (HELP) for assistance.

Currently, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø does not offer VPN services and does not support any third-party software.

Students may bring printers to campus. We recommend that students bring printers that are not wireless capable. If they are wireless capable, the wireless feature should be turn off so that it doesn’t interfere with the residential wireless network. While the Division of Information Technology does not offer repair services for personal devices, we can assist with connecting devices to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø systems and services like our wireless network, BlazeVIEW, campus computer lab printing, and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø email.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) network connections are not allowed on campus. P2P applications allow a computer to connect directly to another computer to share files. The shared files might be copyrighted, which introduces legal issues for unauthorized data-sharing without the permission of the copyright holder. Shared files, even if they look legitimate, can also contain malicious code that could infect a computer’s files or destroy valuable files and data on a computer. 

The IT Help Desk is primarily a walk-up service and is located on the 2nd Floor of Odum Library at the North entrance.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-WiFi and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-LegacyWiFi: There is no limit to the number of devices (cell phones, laptops, tablets) Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø students, staff, and faculty can connect to this wireless network.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IOT and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-IOT-5G: Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø students, staff and faculty may register up to 5 devices (gaming consoles, smart TVs, etc.) through the IoT registration portal at . All 5 devices may connect simultaneously to this network.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-Guests: A maximum of 3 simultaneous logins are permitted per guest account.
