Graduate Assistantships

Getting Started - Onboarding

  • Students must be enrolled for six credit hours to work as a student employee.
  • Upon receiving a job offer, both a Student Personnel Action Request Form (PAR) and original identification (see I-9 Documentation List for options) must be physically presented to Human Resources. An HR representative will reach out to the student & time approver regarding the action items needed to complete the hiring process.  This will include completion of onboarding documents in Equifax, and completion of a background check through Accurate Background, Inc.
  • Once the onboarding process has been completed, both the student and the time approver will receive a confirmation email from Human Resources. The e-mail will contain the official start date in addition to other essential information regarding employment.  Students must not begin to working until this confirmation has been received.
  • Compliance training must be completed in Blazeview within the first 30 days of the student's hire date in Blazeview. 

International Students

  • Refer to the list of acceptable documents to satisfy I-9 requirements.
  • A social security number will be required to complete an employment background check. Contact the Center for International Programs for assistance with obtaining a social security number at 229-333-7410.
  • See the International Student Employee Hiring Requirements for additional information.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø’s graduate assistantships are designed to promote the research, teaching, and service responsibilities of the University and to provide graduate students with valuable professional development opportunities while earning a graduate degree. Therefore, Graduate Assistants have the dual responsibility of maintaining satisfactory academic performance and successfully performing the assigned teaching, research, or other service responsibilities.
