Your Chemistry degree program with a Pre-Teaching option is flexible to suit your interests while also developing a strong foundation in Chemistry. You will work closely with faculty from both the Chemistry program and the Dewar College of Education and Human Services in a student-focused, supportive, and caring environment. Research-quality scientific instrumentation and laboratory space is available for you to use. You can even work with a faculty mentor to perform chemical education research. You gain practical, hands-on experience in both Chemistry and Education as you build your resume and, more importantly, prepare for success as a teacher.

The Chemistry degree with a Pre-Teaching option provides you with a well-rounded education in Chemistry and helps you prepare for your teacher certification and MAT degree. Faculty will teach you theory and you will apply that knowledge outside the classroom. Our yearly seminar series help you learn effective study skills, find an internship, engage in educational outreach activities, and give presentations with confidence.

Cost and Length of Program
Students meeting pre-requisites for first-year courses can graduate within four years with a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemistry, Pre-Teaching option.
