Dr. Susan Boddie, soprano has been instructing voice, music, and performing internationally for over 20 years. Originally from St. John's, Newfoundland, Boddie is currently Assistant Professor of Voice, and Chair of the Voice Area at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø. Boddie teaches in both the Music department, and the Theatre and Dance department.
Voice teachers, coaches and clinicians have included Patricia Misslin, Edward Zambara, Phyllis Curtin, Warren Jones, Renée Fleming, Dennis Helmrich, Cynthia Hoffman, Samuel Ramey, and Dawn Upshaw. Dr. Boddie is also a specialist in CCM Vocal Pedagogy. She has studied privately with Jeannette LoVetri in New York City, (creator of Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method) holding all three levels of Somatic Voicework™ certification, and certification from the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory. Musical Theatre voice, acting coaches, and clinicians have included Susan Batson, Mary Setrakian, Jeff Barber, Hannah Corneau, Matt Edwards, Mary Saunders Barton, and Marcelle Gauvin.
As an actor, some of Boddie’s performing highlights include Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Emma in Jekyll and Hyde, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, Lily in The Secret Garden, Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress. Other highlights include W;t by Margaret Edson, The Scarlett Pimpernel, The Music Man, Street Scene, My Fair Lady, Carousel, Spamalot, and Aida. Classically, Boddie has performed numerous recitals, operatic roles and chamber music with performances at Carnegie Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, Riverside Church Manhattan, Sala Unicaja de Conciertos, Rebecca Cohn Theatre, and Edward Pickman Hall.
Dr. Boddie is an active member of MTEA, NATS, PAVA, NAfME, CMS, and the Somatic Voicework™ Teacher's Association. She frequently presents at conferences and is published in peer reviewed journals. She enjoys researching and performing works of BIPOC and living Cis Female composers - bringing diverse repertoire to her students and classes
